Creating a task
You can create a task from different views:
- List, Board, and Calendar views: Click the + Add task button.
- Timeline and Workflow views: Click directly on the date where you want the task, then enter the task name.

If the view is grouped by a field—such as Status, Assignee, Due date, or a Custom field—creating a task within a specific group will automatically apply that group's value to the new task. For example:
- In a view grouped by Status, creating a task in the In progress group will set the task's status to In progress.
- In a view grouped by Assignee, creating a task in a person's group will assign the task to them.
- The same applies when grouping by Due date or Custom fields—the grouped value is automatically set during creation.
Creating a task from a template
In the List and Board views, you can also create tasks using templates:
- Click the + Add button at the top left of the view.
- Select a template from the list.
